Diagnosis in 2016, no tumor regression until January 2017. From January to March 2017, the tumor decreased by 60 percent. When I participated for the first time in January 2017 in a training of OAC with Petra, I of course did not know what to expect. However, after half the training session, I realized that this is not just a support group for cancer patients, but that it is more about offering a perspective to people with cancer diagnosis.
And this is exactly what Petra manages to do very well with her open, open-minded and accommodating manner. When you know her background story and see how she deals with her disease and what she has made of it, it makes me look very positively into the future. In short: Petra is synonymous with optimism! For me, Petra is not only a trainer or sports teacher, but also a wonderful psycho-oncologist. Would you like to know how I go home after a training session? With a big smile on my face, even if it's raining.

Faced with the diagnosis of breast cancer in 2019 I felt totally powerless and at the mercy of fate. Yet, it´s not true that, apart from undergoing heavy medical treatment, we can do nothing for our health. All studies agree that against cancer and debilitation such as fatigue syndrome due to therapy, sport has a winning power.
Yes ... easy to say, much more difficult to do, when chemotherapy takes away the strength and even the tasks of daily life overwhelm us. Then I met Petra at an information day in the hospital and I was surrounded by a wave of sharing, sincere optimism and motivation. Today I train regularly with her and with fantastic people, who like Petra and me are fighting cancer with sport, the only powerful means without unwanted side effects. Thank you OAC!

Euch allen ganz lieben Dank, bitte macht weiter so!

October 2019 Diagnosis of breast cancer, at that moment my life, and my feelings resembled a rollercoaster. At an event at the University Hospital in Großhadern/Munich I met Petra Thaller and OAC. That was a stroke of luck, because shortly after that came COVID19 and with it the lockdown. There were no possibilities to do sports or to meet with friends. Thanks to the varied, motivating OAC online training OACatHome and the informative OACatHome column Info, Talk & Facts by Petra and her team I became more agile again, my mood improved and was able to clarify some open questions about breast cancer.
Since May 2020 I am sitting on the horse again with so much fun! This is my Outdoor against Cancer.
OAC, that is Petra Thaller and her team, who give us power, strength, energy and above all courage to face life again.
Thank you all very much, please keep it up!

Danke an OAC !

Outdoor against Cancer macht mich stark!
Diagnose Brustkrebs, August 2017.

Outdoor against Cancer picked me up exactly where I was three years ago: cancer gone, but strength gone too. In the very first hour at the Isar, I recharged my battery to the point where I knew I wanted more of it: fresh, green, outside, lively and lots of laughter. The first sore muscle had washed itself, but I thought to myself, better pain because of movement than pain because of not moving. After a few months, I even had real arm muscles for the first time in my life without having put it on, cool! And body feeling again. And I was able to keep my balance and run despite my numb feet from polyneuropathy. Because I'm working full time again, I rarely make it to training these days, that's real crap. A small consolation are the OACatHome online units, but that is definitely not the same as playing outside together. The great thing is that it doesn't matter how fit or ready you are, everyone joins in according to their own abilities and notices from time to time how they get better.

So I can only say that I am very happy to have come across OAC. OAC and in this particular case Petra, the founder, motivates us all every week to do sports together with her. In all weathers - laughter and good humour are pre-programmed; the inner bastard is quickly fought off. And the sore muscles in the days after the event make us feel that we have done something. A thousand thanks. You make this really unique and I admire your commitment!

I am a biologist working in oncological research. Sport, when I was diagnosed (2014 chemotherapy and radiation, 2015 brain surgery after bleeding into a cavernoma), offered me the opportunity to actively participate in my healing and took away my powerlessness in the face of the disease.
With OAC there is a fixed appointment a week to do sports. For me, OAC means sweating together in the fresh air while doing sports, going to your own limits while having fun and exchanging ideas with like-minded people. I like the group, which is spread over all age groups. Everyone, from your own children to pensioners, can take part, because everyone can individually adjust the level of effort. I love being out in the fresh air in any weather. Also great are the special activities such as inline skating, snowshoeing, the OAC-NightHike or sailing, which Petra and her team are constantly putting on. OAC is also good for the soul!

Soon after the diagnosis of cancer I saw an OAC flyer on display in my clinic, the offer appealed to me immediately. So I went straight to the next training session.
Outdoor training outside in the park is always wonderful, even during chemo (with half the strength) and radiation, and even now two years later, after the daily work routine on the PC. The weekly appointment reminds me how much I can do for my health myself.
Meeting others there gave me courage and I felt welcome and part of the team right away. I particularly appreciate the fact that family and friends are also welcome, because I was able to share this experience with my sister and because you walk the path through illness together with your loved ones.
In short: at OAC you get courage, fun, strength, joie de vivre, health - all the good things that sport can offer, but without any pressure to perform.

After my cancer I was looking for a sporting activity and found it in OAC.
We meet once a week in a meadow in all weathers and train all muscle groups, do skill exercises and chat, laugh and look forward to getting together.
In sun, rain and in winter also snow we are on our meadow. I would never do that alone.
It is always a pleasure when we get together. Sometimes we know each other for a long time, sometimes new sportsmen join us. We exchange ideas about cancer and about life.
Petra is super committed and motivates us to stay on.
I got more condition and more muscle mass.
Thanks to OAC !

I think the idea of OAC is great, because with a cancer diagnosis, life gets very confusing at first. And sport helps to bring life back into balance. You feel your body again during sport and forget your worries, at least for this time. Already during my therapy in 2016, I took part in outdoor sports with Petra whenever I could and I have always found that I returned home in a much better mood than when I arrived. Sport outdoors and in a group with equally affected people is perfect! In my opinion, OAC makes a very important contribution to the physical and psychological regeneration of people suffering from cancer. And Petra in particular motivates very strongly with her positive nature. I am glad to have found OAC!

Outdoor against Cancer makes me strong!
Diagnosis of breast cancer, August 2017. At first, I was only interested in being able to dare to be around people. Sport with a wig is stupid - without too. I don't want everyone to see that I have cancer right away. I dared to go to the OAC.
The training is exhausting at the beginning, but I almost always manage to go and participate during chemo. Wow, they are all so fit and in such a good mood! That gives me courage and spurs me on.
It's a great varied workout, never boring and always fun. I'm just starting my fourth year of OaC and I'm fitter than before the diagnosis! OAC makes you strong!

Only one week after my diagnosis of breast cancer in October 2017, I looked for an offer with the combination "sport and cancer" - and found Petra Thaller and thus OAC. A glimmer of hope! Only shortly after my first (and worst) chemo, I stood on shaky legs during the first snowfall and at 0°C in my first outdoor sports lesson from OAC. And could hardly believe that we should "warm up". I was sick, I thought. But I ran along with all the other participants. And today I can say: I ran for my life for after cancer. OAC was my lifeline. I am very grateful to Petra Thaller for her commitment and support during and after the therapies. Please continue!
